Last week we had stellar attendance at our zoom office meeting with speaker, real estate attorney Jim Lupino, providing us a legal update for navigating transactions today with our unique circumstances. Our focus is safety, so at American Caribbean, Christie’s International Real Estate we are doing our part to help quell the spread of the COVID 19 and have closed our physical offices. We may be working remotely, but we are always available to you. This week with local business partners in our closing agents and lenders, we successfully closed on Florida Keys properties. ![]() We are still here for you, using all the latest electronic and digital methods to market, show, sell and close on Florida Keys properties. This was a nice way to spend a couple of hours. The woman who greeted us was charming and chatted with us awhile. Upon entering you are greeted by some lovely aquariums to see beautiful tropical fish. On the main floor the exhibits take you back to pre-colonial days up to the twentieth century and there were actual relics ranging from old spainish couns to a full size cannon. It was truely a moving experience to watch. Their stories really drive home how horrific this storm was and shows the toughness and resilience if these people who came through it. The video was made in 1997 and is told by the last still living survivors up to that point. Now my husband and I listened to a history of this hurricane at the Custom’s House in Key West but it does not delve into the personal tragedies nearly to the extent as this movie. One is the Henry Flagler railroad story and the other is the 1935 Memorial Day hurricane. The museum covers the history of the Islamorada area and has two movies on the subject. A liitle hard to find the place but realized that you had to go into the Islander Resort parking lot before getting to the museum. ![]()
